The moment a deaf dog discovered its pet parent had returned home has melted hearts online.
A viral video uploaded to TikTok by user mimi1904999 on December 17, which can also be seen here, showed a white boxer dog sleeping on its bed in a corner of a room as its owner recorded it.
The owner then approached the dog and placed her hand just in front of the dog's nose, letting it know she had returned home.

She then blew gently on the pet, causing it to jump up happily and move close to her owner—seemingly thrilled she was back home.
"POV (point of view): You have a deaf dog and you to blow on her face or make her smell you so she knows you arrived," the caption—originally written in Spanish—said.

Telling if a Dog Is Deaf
According to VCA Animal Hospitals, there are several things that people can do to check their puppy or dog's hearing, which include:
- Rattling your keys
- Squeaking a toy
- Clapping your hands behind the dog
- Ringing a bell
- Whistling
- Shaking a bag of treats
Your dog mustn't see the source of the noise, as they may respond to the visual clue and give a misleading result. If you get no response, there is a chance the dog is deaf or has poor hearing.
Online Reaction to the Viral Video
The clip has been viewed more than 2.8 million times and received around 511,100 likes since it was uploaded.
Many TikTok users took the opportunity to share their experiences with their deaf dogs, while others praised the pet in the video.
Andreina Gutierrez said: "My little dog is also deaf and I taught him signs from a young age, but he has a good sense of smell because he knows when he arrives he is waiting for me."
Sad kisses added: "Her beautiful little nose looks like something out of a cartoon."
Yer commented: "My dog was born deaf, and she always waits for me very close to the door to see if I arrive. It is a blessing to have her in my life."
Daniela Herrera posted: "My dog is also deaf and the best thing is to wake them up like this, it is inevitable not to talk to them like that, even if they don't hear."
