Telltale Games Closing: 'The Walking Dead' May Live Again, 'Stranger Things' Footage Leaks

Telltale Games is officially shutting down, right in the middle of The Walking Dead’s final season. While the company has announced the second episode will release, that may be the end of the road for Clementine and the rest of the survivors of Telltale’s take on the zombie franchise. However, it’s possible we may see a full fourth season if other game developers step up to the plate.

In a statement released on the company’s official Twitter account, Telltale reps said they were actively looking for partners to help finish the development and publishing of The Walking Dead Season 4. The tweet mentions several partners have expressed interest and that more information will be announced soon.

However, this doesn’t help the former Telltale Games employees, who are rumored to have been laid off without any form of severance. This type of poor treatment leads to angry developers, which leads to leaks of projects that were still in development. The latest leaks appear to be from Telltale’s take on the Netflix series Stranger Things. While these videos are all unconfirmed, the graphics and art style look exactly like a work-in-progress Telltale game.

These gifs come from a thread on The Walking Dead’s subreddit. It’s possible these are a fan creation, but the production values look too good to have been whipped up in a few days. The character models do look a little goofy, but it’s likely that the art assets used in these clips were placeholders until the final models were completed.

The clips show Will and his mom in their house, Will exploring some few cabinets and even a look at the Demogorgon in the Upside Down. Based on the clips, it looks like Stranger Things could have been genuinely scary, although gameplay looked to be the same from the previous Telltale Games experiences. It’s too bad Telltale went under, as this looks like an exciting game that we’ll likely never be able to play.
