Tennessee Soldier Who Just Got Back From Deployment Found Tied Up and Shot Dead In His House

A Tennessee soldier who had just returned from deployment was found tied up and shot dead in his home, authorities said.

Jacob Dean Bishop, 35, was found dead by his mother at his home in Lenoir City in the early hours of October 1, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office said. The father of two had been physically bound and shot multiple times.

The sheriff's office said it responded to a call on Shaw Ferry Road North at around 7.45 a.m. on October 1 and found Bishop unconscious and unresponsive.

Sheriff Tim Guider said, "Once patrol deputies arrived on scene, it was quickly determined that foul play was involved and that the male was a victim of a homicide."

Investigators with the sheriff's office said that the cause of death was ruled a homicide based on preliminary details and that a murder investigation was launched.

Bishop had returned home a few months ago after a yearlong deployment in Poland with the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Guider said, "We continue to work tirelessly and around the clock to bring the party, or parties, responsible for the murder of a U.S. soldier to justice and to provide the Bishop family with some form of closure." He pointed out that "Jacob Bishop was a father of two and one of our nation's guardians."

Guider added, "We have been pursuing multiple leads, spending countless hours around the clock, in our search for clues that we need to lead us to the party or parties responsible for the tragic killing of another."

Investigators do not believe Bishop's slaying was a random killing. But the sheriff's office said that although the crime is believed to be an isolated incident, the suspect or suspects should be considered "armed and dangerous."

They are seeking information about a white SUV that witnesses said they saw in the area several days before the incident and leaving the day on the day of Bishop's killing.

Brittany Kindred, who identified herself as Bishop's fiancée on Facebook, urged anyone with information about the case to come forward.

She wrote: "HELP US FIND WHO DID THIS TO MY FIANCÉ! THERES NO INFORMATION TOO SMALL. HELP US GET JUSTICE FOR JAY!!"

She previously paid tribute to Bishop, calling him "the love of my life" and "my guardian angel."

Anyone with information about Bishop, his associates or the vehicle of interest is urged to call the Loudon County Sheriff's Office at 865-986-4823.
