'Terminator: Dark Fate' Easter Egg: The 'Carl's Draperies' Phone Number is a Real Number You Can Call

Warning: This article contains spoilers about Terminator: Dark Fate.

Terminator: Dark Fate is a movie full of Easter eggs and references to the previous movies in the Terminator franchise, but even the most eagle-eyed viewers have missed one one of its most exciting Easter eggs.

In the film, the T-800 (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) has settled into civilian life since its mission targeting John Connor and has become Carl, the owner of Carl's Draperies. In Dark Fate, we see a Carl's Draperies van featuring the phone number 888-512-1984.

As many Terminator fans have noticed, this number is a reference to the release date of the original movie, which hit theaters on May 12, 1984. However, the real Easter egg comes if you ring the number.

Fans who call the Carl's Draperies number are met with a message from Carl himself, as voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who says: "Hi, this is Carl's Draperies. We have the best drapes and curtains anywhere in Texas, I can guarantee you that. Sorry we are not here right now to answer your call but we will call you back. Until then, hasta la vista."

This, of course, is a reference to one of the iconic catchphrases of the Terminator, "Hasta la vista, baby," one of the few catchphrases from the franchise which did not appear in Dark Fate.

Dark Fate does, however, feature Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) saying "I'll be back," while Grace (Mackenzie Davis) is given her own spin on the famous "Come with me if you want to live" line when she says, "Come with me or you're dead meat in 30 seconds."

With this phone number Easter egg, the makers of Terminator: Dark Fate have taken a leaf from the Stranger Things book, as the team behind the Netflix show pulled a similar stunt earlier in the year.

When fans rang Murray's (Brett Gelman) phone number—618-625-8313—they got the following message: "Hi, you have reached the residence of Murray Bauman," the message begins.

The message continues: "Mom, if this is you, please hang up and call me between the hours of 5 and 6 p.m. as previously discussed, OK? If this is Joyce, Joyce, thank you for calling, I have been trying to reach ya. I have an update. It's about, well, it's probably best if we speak in person. It's not good or bad, but it's something.

"If this is anyone but my mother or Joyce, well, you think you're real clever, getting my number, don't ya? Well, here's some breaking news for you: You're not clever. You're not special. You are just simply one of the many, many nimwits to have called here, and the closest you will ever get to me is this prerecorded message so at the beep, do me a favor and hang up and never call here again. You are a parasite! Thank you and good day."
