Mother Stabbed Repeatedly by Her Own Children, Police Say

A Texas woman has been hospitalized in critical condition following an alleged attack by her two sons.

Police were called to a home in the 8000 block of West Military in San Antonio and found the woman stabbed and beaten heavily. Officers arrested the woman's two sons, aged 12 and 16, according to local media.

The attack is believed to have taken place around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, and officers think the woman may have been assaulted with a baseball bat.

The woman's 16-year-old son was still at the property when police arrived, but the 12-year-old had escaped the premises. He was later found in the local area by police. The woman was taken to hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Police say the investigation is ongoing. Newsweek has contacted the San Antonia Police Department for comment.

In a separate, unconnected incident, two brothers were arrested on January 20 for allegedly beating their step-father to death after he abused their half-sister.

Alexandro and Christian Trevino, aged 18 and 17 respectively beat 42-year-old Gabriel Quintanilla and left him for dead in a field, Pharr Police allege. Juan Eduardo Melendez, aged 18, was also arrested and charged for his involvement in the crime.

The incident is believed to have taken place after the brother's 9-year-old half-sister told someone that her father, Quintanilla, had touched her inappropriately.

Pharr Police Deputy Chief Juan Gonzalez held a press conference on January 23 giving details of the incident.

He said the two brothers confronted Quintanilla, then a physical fight erupted.

"Quintanilla left the location on foot [...]Christian Trevino runs out after the victim and finds him outside of an apartment complex further south down the road," Gonzalez said.

"A second assault occurs there and Alexandro Trevino and the driver of a red Dodge Charger, who we have identified as Juan Gonzalez Melendez, catch up to him and again join in on an assault of the victim at that point."

The suspects then left and switched cars only to return to find Quintanilla and attack him for a third time. Authorities then believe they drove him to a field in McAllen and dumped the body. Police believe the victim may have still been alive at this point.

All three suspects were arraigned on January 23. Christian Trevino and Melendez were both charged with capital murder, aggravated assault and engaging in organized criminal activity.

Alexandro Trevino was charged with aggravated assault and engaging in organized criminal activity.
