Thanos Did Nothing Wrong Subreddit Bans Half Its Subscribers

In one of the more outrageous (and ingenious) things to happen on the internet today, half of an entire subreddit was "snapped" into banishment to honor Thanos, the villain of Avengers: Infinity War.

The Thanos Did Nothing Wrong subreddit, a collection of redditors who post memes devoted to the Infinity War villain, grew so quickly that the moderators and members felt it was time to balance out the universe by banning half of its subscribers.

On July 9, the mods of the subreddit randomly selected half of the subscribers to ban after receiving permission from Reddit admins. Josh Brolin, the man behind the Infinity Gauntlet, ushered in the random banning in a short video of him snapping his fingers. Infinity War directors, the Russo Brothers, posted the video of Brolin on Twitter, which you can see below.

At the time of this writing, the Thanos Did Nothing Wrong subreddit has more than 660 thousand subscribers. A post on the top of the page asks those banished to join the In the Soul Stone subreddit, in reference to a popular fan theory explaining what happens to the heroes at the end of Infinity War. This new subreddit already has more than 24 thousand members, but that figure should increase as the day goes on.

The users who are being banned is currently streaming on Twitch.

In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos' motivations for gathering the Infinity Stones was noble (in his mind, at least). To prevent the universe from becoming overpopulated and falling into chaos like his homeworld of Titan, Thanos looks to use all six Infinity Stones to kill half the universe.

Back in May, a site called Did Thanos Kill Me was created to let moviegoers see if they would be spared by the villain.
