TikTokers Are Eating Watermelon With Mustard—But Lizzo Is Not Convinced
TikTok is full of peculiar trends and unlikely crazes, and the latest one is a bizarre culinary combination that's anything but traditional.
Many people online are trying out slices of watermelon laden with mustard. The trend seems to have originated with TikTok creator @yayayayummy, who shared his idea on May 4.
The video begins with the man standing in his kitchen, holding a slice of the juicy fruit.
He then tells viewers: "Watermelon and yellow mustard, trust me on this its so good. Grab yourself a juicy watermelon, cut that baby up—juicy. Grab yourself some French's yellow mustard, it has to be French's."
He then squeezes the condiment onto a slice of the summery fruit, instructing people to: "Pour that sucker on and cheers.
"It so tangy, its so vinegary and it matches so well with the watermelon's sweet juiciness. Trust me it's so good."
The footage has since been viewed more than 1.5 million times and received 133,100 likes.
Many took to the comments section to share their views on the idea.
One TikTok user, Kristen, wrote: "I tried it. I personally find it revolting."

Another person, linaxinee, added: "Were you drunk when you ate that???"
CyttyCat typed: "I'm crying right now, he has committed a hate crime."
The controversial combination has reached a wide range of people, including famous musician, Lizzo.
The Truth Hurts singer decided to try it for herself, using the app's duet function with @yayayayummy on June 2, showcasing herself trying the snack.
The star cuts up slices of her watermelon, and adds a good squeeze of mustard to one piece. She then tells her fans: "Welcome to is it bussin' or is it disgusting?
"Alright I've been seeing this s**t on the internet. Mustard. Watermelon."

The 33-year-old then bites into the creation, looking perplexed. She says: "I don't understand, hold on," before biting into it again.
The clip ends with Lizzo shouting: "Huhhh?" Hardly a stellar endorsement from the celebrity.
She captioned the post: "ummmm I ended up just eating it w tajin."
Tajin is a chili and lime seasoning, which sounds like it could be a delicious with the sweet fruit.
Lizzo's video has so far surpassed 21.5 million views and 4.2 million likes. Her fans also seem less than enthused by the food combo.
One person, Ballout, commented: "Why is this even allowed?"
Another TikTok user, RB, added: "It sounds like someone who was high and only had two ingredients left in their fridge... so they just went for it."
