'Titans' Season 3 Premiere Preview: Robin Goes Rogue As Show Moves to HBO Max

Titans flies back into action with a third season Thursday but this time it's arriving on HBO Max.

The first three episodes of Season 3 of Titans will be available August 12, with episodes appearing weekly every following Thursday. The majority of the cast return for the new season, with some new classic DC characters joining the show too.

Titans is based on the DC Comics franchise Teen Titans which follows a group of young superheroes who join forces in their fight against evil. The first two seasons were broadcast on TNT, but HBO Max have picked up the rights to broadcast the show in the Unites States.

What happens in Titans Season 3?

Early previews from Season 3 shows there's a host of new heroes and villains joining the fray. Quite quickly into the first episode it appears trust is broken as Jason Todd (Curran Walters) directly disobeys an order from Bruce Wayne (Iain Glen).

A recently dropped teaser shows Jason, who has also taken on the mantle of Robin, inform Bruce that he's got the location of the Joker and he wants to go after him. Bruce tells him to stay put and wait until he gets back. It seems Jason isn't in a listening mood though, and inhales a mysterious substance with the intention of going after the classic villain.

Another clip released by HBO Max shows newcomer Barbara Gordon (Savannah Welch) discussing her father's death with Bruce and Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites). It's revealed that Commissioner Gordon died of a heart attack after being frozen by the villain Mr. Freeze.

Barbara isn't the only new character joining the cast of Season 3. The trailer for the season reveals the Titans will enlist the help of Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, and he'll be played by Mad Men actor Vincent Kartheiser. Young actor Jay Lycurgo has also been cast as Tim Drake in the series.
