Tom Hanks Surprises Fans, Buys Everyone Burgers at California In-N-Out

Tom Hanks treated the customers of a Southern California fast food restaurant to an early Christmas present Saturday.

The Oscar-winning actor and his wife Rita Wilson chatted and took photos with patrons of an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Fontana, before offering to pay for everyone's meals, CBS Los Angeles reported.

Excited fans shared their delight on social media. "I had the absolute honor of meeting the one and only Tom Hanks and his beautiful wife Rita Wilson! The coolest people I've ever met!" wrote Twitter user BlackwatchCosplay.

Hanks isn't the only celebrity to get into the spirit of giving this holiday season. Lucky Reddit user Kaila Amador, 25, recently revealed she received Disney merch, gift cards and a donation in her name to Kitten Rescue from eBay CEO Devin Wenig as part of the popular website's gift exchange.

Cat owner Amador had described herself as a "lover of all cats, Disney and Christmas," on her Reddit gift exchange profile.

"I found it to be an authentic gesture," Amador told CNBC. "I can tell he read what I put in the notes to my Santa. Most of it was me gushing over my love for Disney, and I think the gifts definitely reflected that!"

"It is a bit overwhelming to receive a gift from someone so high-profile," she continued. "I honestly never expected it to happen to me. Each year I look forward to seeing what gifts people receive from Bill Gates, CEOs, philanthropists and different companies. After I opened the gift from Devin and was figuring out what to write, I had this crazy realization that people were waiting for my post. To see what I got!"

Wenig had tweeted an image of himself addressing the gifts on Twitter earlier in December with the caption: "Shopped my favorite @eBay sellers for @Reddit Secret Santa. This is going to NYC."

Tech mogul Bill Gates has made headlines for his involvement in the gift exchange. This year, he announced on Twitter he had requested a donation in his name to a charity of his Secret Santa's choice.

The billionaire philanthropist shared a picture of himself with a handwritten thank-you note on Reddit along with the statement: "I know I'm lucky, because I've always had access to the tools I need. I've never had to learn in an under-resourced setting like a refugee camp. That's why my Secret Santa's gift means so much to me: she's helping a young girl continue to learn in a refugee camp through International Rescue Committee. Thank you for your generosity in donating a year of school on my behalf. Happy holidays!"
