A Florida man reportedly taunted jaguars at the Jacksonville Zoo before being attacked when he put his arm inside an enclosure on Wednesday.
"Alligators are opportunistic feeders and will eat animals that are readily available to them," the FWC warns.

"With logs and bark and sawdust everywhere there are plenty of opportunities for [snakes] to hide, find food and hibernate," reptile expert Jake Whitehead said.
The child, who has autism, required 13 stitches on her face following the attack in Lowell, Massachusetts.
The camper hid behind a tree in an attempt to protect himself, but the moose did not stop charging.
Steven Johnson was filming when the snake bit him. "Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Not good. Not good at all," he said.
Police said there were several pit bulls caged in the garage where the woman was found dead, with one cage toppled over at the scene of the alleged dog attack.
"There was blood all down his face. He was crying, I was crying, his sister was crying," said the boy's mother, Becky Gittoes.
Officials in Florida said the victim had visible bite wounds to the upper body and chest area.
Police said the man was in a "pretty serious" condition and "will likely be in the hospital for some time" after suffering severe injuries to his limbs.
The animal was spotted chasing goats before it was scared off the property located in British Columbia, Canada.
The scene where the girl died was sealed off in preparation for forensic examination.
