An investigation by The Daily Beast found 19 private prisons were being paid to house around 18,000 migrants, or about 41 percent of the 44,000 total migrants being held by ICE.
"It may seem like a lot of money to you...but it is a small sum compared to everything that the United States has stolen from Honduras," organizer Alfonso Guerrero Ulloa said.
"It was just an amazing night of people coming together or a good cause," Lukas Volk said.

"Ultimately they should develop their own country," said the 83-year-old Tibetan, himself a refugee from the Chinese repression of Tibet.
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to return a mother and her child to the U.S. after it deported them ahead of a hearing that would have seen them spared.
"It is not right to send people to hell," Elin Ersson told fellow passengers.

"My suffering ended the day I met them," Susana, a Guatemalan asylum seeker who came to the U.S. with her 10-month-old baby, said of the couple sponsoring them.
"We have exhausted our available sites, our resources and our personnel," Toronto Mayor John Tory said.
