Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred on Saturday inside an area only accessible to visitors from a zoo tour vehicle.
The mother of two was on a phone call to her father when she was attacked and killed by a black bear.
The attack took place along the 33-mile long Chilkoot Trail, which crosses through the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park into Canada.
Kamchatka teenager Rodion Burakov distracted the bear long enough for his 13-year-old brother to run to safety.
Black bear sightings are becoming increasingly common in Connecticut as the animal's population grows.
The attack, which was reported to state troopers at around 7 p.m., ended after the person's hunting partner shot the animal.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was staying at Red Pine Island on Rainy Lake, close to the U.S. border. The attack occurred on September 1, police said.

"Pennsylvania's rifle deer season just ended and there were deer parts in close proximity," explained game warden Chris Krebs.
