Democrats plan to investigate why HUD has missed a 90-day deadline to begin allowing Puerto Rico to apply for more than $8 billion in allocated mitigation funds for natural disasters.

"The Committee does not believe that U.S. taxpayer funds should be used to personally enrich President Trump, his family, and his companies," a Democratic committee chairman wrote in a series of letters requesting information and documents.

"We are less than five months away from the start of the next federal election, and there is no time for partisan games," members of the Blue Dog Coalition wrote in a letter.

Although the chamber's Judiciary Committee has not officially voted to initiate impeachment proceedings, Democrats continue to say that they are, "in effect," already in the midst of an inquiry.

"We know the purpose of a gun that can fire hundreds of rounds in minutes," the Democrats wrote. "It's not for hunting or for civilian self-defense. It's for warfare."

"My message to children going back to school is go and really study hard and someday you'll grow up and maybe be President of the United States or do something else that's fantastic," Trump said.

One of the Senate Majority Leader's Twitter accounts was temporarily suspended for sharing a video of protesters advocating for violence against the Kentucky Republican.

The ad urges viewers to "call Senator McConnell and tell him: America is relying on you to let Congress do its job and secure out elections."

"Let me be clear: You have a lot of talk — ta ta ta ta ta ta ta talk! But In the end — in the end — nothing happens," House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings told reporters.

"The idea of the imperial presidency is something that has built up over time, and it has a snowball effect that stays with the office."
