Crocodile attack

The Cambodian man had been coaxing a crocodile out a cage when it grabbed his stick and pulled him into an enclosure.

"Police believe the remains are those of the missing 65-year-old Laura man, pending the formal identification process," Queensland Police said in a statement.

The attack from the reptile happened while the 17-year-old was being evacuated due to rising floodwaters.

The catch comes just days after a man suffered severe injuries after being attacked by a crocodile in a nearby area.

"I just heard her screaming from behind and when I turned around, she was caught by the crocodile," the girl's brother said, describing the attack.

"Why should we have to be worried about bloody crocodiles?" the dog's owner Alan Benn told Australian news website 7NEWS after losing the pet.

The girl was taken to hospital with leg injuries. Crocodiles are thought to kill around 1,000 people each year, with the Nile crocodile being the most deadly.

The boy suffered significant injuries despite successfully escaping from the reptile's jaws.

Gustave the Nile crocodile has not been since since 2016, but experts say he could still be out there.

The father reportedly tried to fight off the 11-foot crocodile who then quickly disappeared under the water with his son in its jaws.
