Elena Kagan

The latest on Elena Kagan. Appointed by former President Barack Obama to be an associate justice of the Supreme Court in 2010, she was confirmed by the U.S. Senate later that year. She filled the seat vacated by former justice John Paul Stevens. Kagan is the fourth woman to hold a seat on the Supreme Court. She briefly served as solicitor general of the United States from 2009 to 2010, and before that as head of Harvard Law School from 2003 to 2009.
