Lawmakers have called for a probe following reports from a whistleblower into the treatment of immigrants at an ICE center in Georgia.

The House Committee on Oversight and Reform called for an investigation into "shocking allegations of medical atrocities" at the ICE detention center.

Trucks outfitted with the campaign's message will also drive past the White House and ICE headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said the U.S. "has engaged in a program of mass human rights violations targeting immigrants."

"Given that [Pham's] already worked for ICE within this administration, and this administration has aggressively ramped up targeting of Southeast Asian refugee communities, we don't feel optimistic that there will be a change in how ICE is run," Phi Nguyen said.

Attorneys issued a letter to ICE and Homeland Security Department representatives on Wednesday, detailing alleged violations of detainees' constitutional rights to free religious exercise.

In an interview with Newsweek, DHS Acting Seputy Secretary Ken Cuccinelli said believes racial injustice is a problem in the U.S., but that federal officers were right to crack down on "violent agitators."

In 2019, a total of 2,072 U.S. citizens renounced their citizenship, but in the first six months of 2020, over 5,800 U.S. citizens have done the same—a nearly 180 percent increase.

"We were worried they were going to die," immigration attorney Lisa Knox told Newsweek.

"Immigration Nation" on Netflix contains a no-holds-barred look at the work of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, who reportedly took exception with some scenes in the documentary.

"Iowa's Hispanic community doesn't need any public relations spin from Homeland Security to know ICE is a dangerous," said Juan Manuel Galvez Ibarra.

The detainees said they have serious underlying medical issues that would exasperate their condition if they were to also contract coronavirus.

Leaving the agency, Matthew Albence said, was "an exceptionally hard decision" to make.

The flood was prompted by Jewish political action group Never Again Action, which campaigns to abolish ICE.

ICE has faced scrutiny over the program, which is expected to focus on its Enforcement and Removal Operations unit.

"Now, they're deemed essential workers, but they're still treated as disposable," said Lorena Quiroz, an organizer of Working Together MS.

A full House Committee of Appropriations markup of the Homeland Security 2021 funding bill is set to take place on Wednesday.

A new program focused on ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations unit has prompted backlash.

California is the first state to sue the Trump administration over its rule barring many international students from staying in the country.

"Defensive tactics, firearms familiarization and targeted arrests" are among the training attendees will receive, according to a letter from Chicago ICE Field Office Director Robert Guadian.
