"She obviously has to come to grips with the fact that when you are here, you're on a broader stage and things you say resonate far beyond your local community," Democrat Gerry Connolly said of his colleague Ilhan Omar.

Democratic leaders are satisfied with Omar's apology, saying her comments don't rise to the same levels of racism and anti-Semitism as comments from Trump and Representative Steve King.
"I learned from people impacted by my words. When will you?" Omar tweeted.
The powerful lobby group sent out an email asking for support in the wake of controversy sparked by Omar's tweets.
"We have to always be willing to step back and think through criticism, just as I expect people to hear me when others attack me for my identity," Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar said.
"Congresswoman Omar's use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel's supporters is deeply offensive," read a statement from Pelosi and Democratic leadership.
The American Jewish Committee has called on the Democratic congresswoman to apologize.
"We are bringing Jakelin Caal into the room with us during the #SOTU," Democratic Representative Rashida Tlaib of Michigan said.
Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib are the first Muslim women to serve in Congress.
Tlaib, 42, made history, along with Minnesota's Ilhan Omar, as they become the first Muslim women elected to Congress.
Voters elected the country's first Muslim and Native American women to Congress, in addition to a number of other firsts.
