U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement are allegedly refusing to abide by the ruling of a federal judge, as they continue to detain an LGBT asylum seeker without making an "individualized determination" about the case.
The contracts are expected to run for as long as five to 15 years.
"They're tough. They're strong. They're great," the president said of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
"He told me he was going to participate in a hunger strike because of the abuse he endured in detention," said Roylan Hernandez-Diaz's wife, Yarelis Gutierrez.
"I don't feel safe anywhere," said Camilo Dunoyer, 18, whose family's story was recently featured in a Netflix documentary on what it's like to be undocumented in the U.S.
ICE allegedly requested the records of several children attending Una Elementary School in Nashville, but the school turned them down.
Immigration lawyer Andrea Martinez says she was left with a fractured foot and lacerations after ICE agents allegedly shoved her outside one of the immigration agency's offices.
"We've been a little floored by the response," said Never Again Action Atlanta organizer Emily Baselt.
"I feared I was going to die," Rolando, 27, said of his experience in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's custody.
"You don't have to work for ICE. We will help you find a better job," Never Again Action is telling U.S. immigration workers.
Attitudes towards the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency fell largely along partisan lines.
The news comes as public trust in the federal government has declined to historically-low levels among members of both parties.
"Being out, we can go wherever we want to go, eat whatever we want to eat. It's the freedom of being out," Gurjant Singh and fellow released detainee Ajay Kumar said in a joint statement.
"It is frustrating to see senseless acts of violence and other criminal activity happen in our communities," said acting ICE Director Matthew Albence.
The study discovered that a decrease in the immigrant population in local communities had no statistically meaningful impact on violent crime.
"They're very frustrated when lawmakers, particularly, help these illegal criminal aliens to evade being taken into custody when it could be done without all of what you just watched, and done very peacefully and very calmly."
New York says ICE arrests around courthouses intimidate people from participating in the justice system.
"When the Trump campaign came into office on a wave of nativism and xenophobia and a war on immigration, the [private prison] market was revived," said Judy Greene, a criminal justice policy analyst and the founder of Justice Strategies.
"Our family was harassed, traumatized, and torn apart as the Milwaukee Police Department collaborated with ICE," said Kristine De la Cruz.
"These are hardworking people...They're just making their money and trying to save money for their families," said Los Brown Berets Chicago Captain Claudia Sandoval.
"My daughter is American born, if anything happened to me she would be all alone here," said Holly Ondaan.
"She knows her days are numbered...If you were that one super liberal Supreme Court justice, wouldn't you be trying to live forever?" Randy Corporon asked to chuckles from the crowd.
"If you study the issue, you would thank ICE rather than vilify them," Thomas Homan insisted.
"The immediate and extreme impact an immigration enforcement action has on an individual and their family is not lost on our officers," the letter states.
Eight people have died in ICE custody so far this year, compared to six deaths attributed to e-cigarette use.
"The day will culminate with a rally set to flood Jeff Bezos' Washington, D.C. home with somber reminders of the damage induced by his company," protest organizers say.
"Abhorrent that you use a day of remembrance for the victims and heroes to shamelessly plug and justify your attacks on communities of color," the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services said.
"These hyper-realistic devices will allow the teams to have those experiences in real-world conditions without the real-world casualties," a document outlining the plan for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency's new training facility states.
This is not the first time the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency has failed to properly redact a document.
