Thousands of people in at least 30 different cities in the U.S. and beyond are expected on Friday to protest the Trump administration's "zero tolerance" policy on families caught entering the U.S. illegally.

The city council of Las Alamitos in California voted 4 to 1 to opt out of Senate Bill 54, known also as the sanctuary law, which took effect January 1.

The president is unlikely to change how he feels about the attorney general's decision last year to step away from the Russia investigation.

Trump and Sessions have taken shots at one another this week.
Attorney General Sessions is now defending himself publicly in his ongoing feud with the president.
