Former GOP Speaker of the House John Boenher was called a "Trumpocrite" and "morally bankrupt" on Tuesday after it was revealed that he voted for former President Donald Trump in 2020 despite his recent heavy criticism of Trump.
"I don't really beat up too many people in this book, except one, Ted Cruz, Lucifer in the flesh," former GOP House Speaker John Boehner said while promoting the upcoming release of his book "On the House: A Washington Memoir."
"There's nothing worse than a reckless jackass who thinks he's smarter than everybody else," Boehner said of Cruz.
"By 2013 the chaos caucus in the House had built up their own power base thanks to fawning right-wing media and outrage-driven fundraising cash. And now they had a new head lunatic leading the way, who wasn't even a House member," the former House speaker writes.
Trump held a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser for Max Miller, Gonzalez's GOP primary challenger, because of the incumbent's January vote to impeach the former president.

Boehner joined several U.S. mayors this week in telling the federal government to get out of the way of marijuana legalization.
"I think Donald Trump promised Melania that he would not win, [that] she didn't have to worry about ever living in the White House," Boehner said.
Cruz, the anti-establishment crusader, wasn't always a Washington outsider.
The former speaker of the House called Cruz "Lucifer in the flesh."
In his first address to the House in his new role, Ryan called on members to change how they conduct business.
Boehner is a rogue agent negotiating on behalf of special interests, not the voters.
Late on Tuesday, Ryan said he would pursue the top House job if his fellow Republicans united behind him.
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, abruptly dropped out on Thursday.
Kevin McCarthy, the front-runner to take control of the House of Representatives, quit the race on Thursday.
John Boehner leaves in a few weeks, and the California congressman is almost sure to succeed him.
