Israel's Embassy in Bogota responded to the news, asking for the action to be withdrawn, saying: "We ask the Colombian government to reverse the decision made by the previous administration in its last days."

Following the attack, the Venezuelan leader accused right-wing groups and pointed fingers at Colombia. He also suggested that Venezuelans living in the U.S. were involved.

Colombians took to social media to celebrate the historic event using the hashtag #VivaLaVida or "Live Life".

The 1st Front is one of six dissident FARC groups who oppose the peace deal with the government.

The new deal will be put to Congress rather than a popular vote.

President Juan Manuel Santos has said a "no" vote would place the nation back at war with the Marxist rebels.

Some criticize the agreement, to be signed today, as amnesty for rebels who wreaked violence for decades.

The agreement brings into sight an end to a conflict that began as a 1960s peasant revolt.
