A lawsuit alleging discrimination against a North Carolina school system has been partially dismissed by a judge.
The Cincinnati City Council has voted to ban discrimination associated with "natural hair and hairstyles associated with race."
Amari Allen told a reporter that one student covered her mouth with his hands while another held her arms behind her back and another cut her dreadlocks with scissors while taunting her.
In 2016, the Perception Institute released a study finding a real and quantifiable bias against black persons wearing natural hair. New California laws aim to change that.

The actor said there's a "very long way to go to combat the unconscious prejudice against black women's complexion, hair style and texture."
