The building was constructed as a facility to quarantine astronauts and the material they brought back from the moon during the Apollo program.
More than 2,200 pounds of butter were used to create the inspirational artwork, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
"Any attempt to make moon rocks in a laboratory would be a monumental failure," said space rock expert Trevor Taylor.
"Fate has ordained that the men who went to the moon to explore in peace will stay on the moon to rest in peace."
NASA is hosting a variety of events which will be televised on the space agency's own TV channel to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing.
Michael Collins was a crew member of the historic Apollo 11 mission, alongside Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.
Snoopy was part of the 1969 Apollo 10 Mission that laid the groundwork for the first moon landings.
The moon-walkers were carrying messages of peace from all over the globe.
Armstrong made his "historic leap for mankind" when he walked on the moon on July 20, 1969. But three years earlier, he'd performed another, salvaging a mission that could have derailed the space program.
The decision to omit the scene drew criticism, but astronaut Neil Armstrong's sons said the film is anything but anti-American.
"This particular photo was edited in a sloppy manner to make it appear the president had a mustache," the paper wrote in a post on its Facebook page.
