A member of the Trump administration, Navarro served as the Director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy (2017-2021) and was the Director of the National Trade Council in 2017. Navarro was a close advisor to former President Trump, largely on trade, but he also advised on the COVID-19 response and Trump's false election fraud claims. Navarro refused to comply with the House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. He was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of contempt of Congress and eventually plead guilty.
