The young wallaby had only just started to emerge from its mother's pouch.

The birthday boy may be a long way from his Madagascar roots, but he still managed to celebrate his birthday with his family in Scotland – and a special cake.

The footage was shared on social media by 'Zookeeper Guy', better known as Brian from Copenhagen Zoo in the Danish capital Copenhagen.

"We really prefer that he spend more time with his troop mates learning to be a gorilla," said a zoo official.

Zookeepers have made the heartbreaking decision to put down all the large animals, including lions and tigers, at a zoo in Ukraine after it was hit by shelling.

"The rescue operation was very sophisticated," the Feldman Ecopark zoo told Newsweek.

The footage shows the takin happily jumping up and down shortly after its birth.

The escapee, Pink Floyd, fled from Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas, in 2005.

"In light of recent global events, the Zoo team had discussed a change to his name but had not done so yet," a zoo spokesperson told Newsweek.

"Aw yes the adorable stab puppy. Very cute noises come from these," said one commenter.

Kansas City Zoo said its 45-year-old orangutan called Jill was "immediately enchanted" by the baby.

Primatologist Cat Hobaiter told Newsweek the footage was "quite disturbing to watch" as such behavior is not normal.

"'What's your name?' 'Ezekiel. What's yours?'" one commenter said in reference a viral sketch comedy bit on YouTube.

"Cute little murder lizard," wrote a viewer on the viral TikTok.

A press spokesperson at the zoo, Małgorzata Chodyła, told Newsweek that the zoo is busy working on more emergency shipments.

Zoo officials noted that there are fewer than 100 individual Amur leopards left in the wild and are mainly found in the Russian Far East.

A truck carrying six lions, six tigers, two caracals and an African wild dog made it safely to Poland.

Enclosures at the Feldman Ecopark were badly damaged during Russia's military assault, frightening animals who then fled from the zoo.

The animals' reactions ranged from interest to jealousy as the newborn was held against the glass window for them to see.

The goats were born after a "very tense night," during which loud explosions were heard across the capital until the morning.

A convoy of animals was sent to the Polish border from the Save Wild animal sanctuary near Kyiv.

The cub was euthanized after it became clear he would not recover from his condition.

The cub is set to have an emergency MRI scan and additional blood tests after all other tests came back inconclusive.

The man is believed to have climbed multiple fences and ignored several warning signs to get to the area.

Animals underwent "surgery to remove items ranging from pacifiers to water bottles that could have proven fatal without veterinary intervention."

The birth of the bonobo was announced just ahead of World Bonobo Day, on February 14.

Mramba the lion was euthanized at the age of 18 after siring seven cubs in captivity.

An opposition supporter turned the orangutan into a hero, claiming that it was the ape was the "best possible option" to represent the city.

"We thought it could be a creative way to encourage our females to show a little affection to males that might not have been so lucky in love," said Mark Lovatt.

Kara Schilling, curator of mammals for the Phoenix Zoo, said: "We will miss his 'roars' to greet the carnivore keeper staff in the mornings, and his 'grumbles' while he impatiently waited for his keepers to get his diet ready."
