Harry Kane believes it would be "stupid" for him or any other Tottenham player to leave White Hart Lane this January given the club's fight for the Premier League title.

Mauricio Pochettino's team is third in the Premier League, one point behind rival Arsenal, and nine behind leader Chelsea.

But Kane, the Spurs striker, says his side is still in the title race, and insists none of his team-mates should be looking to leave north London.

"I would be surprised if any of my team-mates were to leave now," Kane told Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport. "Something's going on here, we're just missing the last step: to win trophies."

The Englishman added: "It would be stupid to leave now. We have one of the best managers in the world, perhaps the best. Soon there will be a new stadium. The future is promising."

Pochettino's side hosts Wycombe Wanderers in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday before traveling to struggling Sunderland on Tuesday night.
