Toyota Fuel Pump Recall Vehicle Model List: 1.8 Million Cars Potentially Unsafe in America

Toyota is recalling more vehicles following its original safety announcement in January, bringing the total of potentially unsafe vehicles to 1.8 million in the U.S.

According to the recall announcement made on Wednesday, the subject vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump that might stop operating.

The concern is that if this were to occur, it could result in a vehicle stall and the vehicle might be unable to be restarted. If this happens while driving at higher speeds, this could increase the risk of a crash.

It is not known how the fault was discovered but in a statement, Toyota told Newsweek: "Information comes to us in many different ways. A single initial report cannot identify a trend and rarely prompts a recall. When we identify what might be a trend, we monitor and investigate the issue, and, if we believe there is a safety-related defect, we will begin a recall."

The company says the remedy is an improved fuel pump.

The models and model years that have vehicles included in this recall are certain:
