Christian Pulisic has emerged as a surprise candidate to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail believes the 13-time European Cup winners are considering launching a bid for the 19-year-old, given both Neymar and Eden Hazard appear out of reach. The U.S. starlet, however, is unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund for less than $80 million.

In the Premier League, meanwhile, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is eager to recoup some funds and slim down his squad after splurging $200 million on players so far in this transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, the German could allow as many as nine players to leave Anfield this summer, with the hope of raising around $130 million.

The names on the list are Loris Karius, Danny Ings, Divock Origi, Simon Mignolet, Lazar Markovic, Pedro Chirivella, Marko Grujic, Ben Woodburn and Sheyi Ojo. As long as they sell them abroad, Premier League clubs can flog players until the end of the month, as the transfer window across other European leagues doesn't shut until August 31.

That means Liverpool are unlikely to be in a rush to offload some of the names above, but Manchester United might face a race against time to get new faces in before August 9, the Premier League deadline for new signings.

Spanish newspaper AS reports United have given up hope of bringing Gareth Bale back to England this summer and will now focus on Toni Kroos, who was linked with a move to the 20-time champions of England in 2014.

The Telegraph, meanwhile, suggests United could face a fight to bring Harry Maguire to Old Trafford, with Leicester City unlikely to allow the England defender to leave this summer. The Foxes have already sold Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City and want to keep hold of Maguire, who impressed at the World Cup and could command a fee north of $65 million.

If signing Maguire sounds arduous, keeping Anthony Martial is unlikely to be much easier for Jose Mourinho. The 22-year-old reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford this summer after becoming frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities. A host of clubs have been linked with him.

According to the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are the latest to join the race for the Frenchman and hope to fund a move for Martial by selling Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente.

The two strikers have had both had spells to forget in North London and Spurs believe they can raise a combined $39 million for the pair.

Meanwhile, Italian outfit Calciomercato claims Manchester City have turned their attention to Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic, after losing out to Chelsea in the race for Jorginho. Along with Barcelona, the Londoners are also monitoring Pjanic, but City are expected to lodge a bid in the near future.

City, however, are not in the race for Rennes winger Ismaila Sarr, who impressed at the World Cup and is being tracked by a number of clubs. According to The Sun, Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Arsenal are all keeping tabs on the 20-year-old Senegal international.

Elsewhere, the Liverpool Echo believes Everton could bid for Barcelona full-back Lucas Digne. The defender is worth around $29 million but is reportedly looking to leave the Camp Nou for regular gametime.
