Donald Trump Jr. Calls Hunter Biden 'Crackhead' After Drug Past Brought Up at Debate

Donald Trump Jr. called Hunter Biden "Crackhead Hunter" during an appearance on the Glenn Beck Program on Tuesday. Former Vice President Joe Biden's son was the subject of a contentious moment in the first presidential debate.

Hunter Biden was given an administrative discharge from the Navy Reserve in 2014 after failing a drug test for cocaine the previous year, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing "people familiar with the matter."

President Donald Trump has sought to make allegations about Biden's business dealings with foreign nationals a campaign issue and raised the matter again during the debate.

"Hunter Biden now has a tie - a direct tie to Vladimir Putin and Russia," Trump Jr. told Beck.

This appears to be a reference to the president's claim that Biden got $3.5 million from the widow of a mayor of Moscow. Biden's lawyer says he was not involved and had no stake in the partnership that received the money.

"And you don't think they would use that over Crackhead Hunter? Like, you don't think that we need leverage over Joe Biden later on in life? Same with China."

"No-one's ever heard of Hunter Biden," Trump Jr. said. "He's never been an investor, he's never done any of those things. The Chinese government just gave him a billion dollars because, you know, they thought he was gonna be really good. Come on, man. It's insane."

Trump Jr.'s claim about Biden and China has often been repeated by the president but the details are unclear. Biden had an investment deal with Bank of China but the $1 billion or $1.5 billion figure frequently cited may be exaggerated.

Biden's father spoke about his other son, Beau Biden, at the debate. He suffered from a brain tumor and died in 2015. The president interrupted him to talk about Hunter Biden.

"I don't know Beau, I know Hunter," Trump said, before claiming he had been "thrown out of the military" for using cocaine and had "made a fortune" in Russia and Ukraine.

Biden didn't bring up Trump's family during the debate but he addressed his son's issues with drugs head on, saying: "My son, like a lot of people, like a lot of people you know at home, had a drug problem. He's overtaken it. He's fixed it. He's worked on it, and I'm proud of him."

There was unsubstantiated speculation that Trump Jr. was on drugs when he delivered his speech to this year's Republican National Convention. He later told Fox News that his apparently glassy eyes were caused by "something with the lighting."
