Trump Has Huge Lead in Ohio Bakery Cookie Poll That Correctly Predicted Winner of Last 9 Elections

Cookie-lovers in Ohio are putting their money where their mouth is for one 2020 U.S. Presidential Election poll—and Donald Trump is currently in the lead.

Busken Bakery, which is located in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selling packs of cookies featuring designs inspired by presidential candidates for the past 30 years. And by comparing the sales of each candidate's cookies, the bakery has correctly predicted the outcome of the last nine elections—including the 2016 election when Donald Trump won.

In its three stores in the Cincinnati area, the company is selling two different types of election cookies—a blue one which features a caricature of Joe Biden and a red one with a Donald Trump version.

Trump has extended his lead in the cookie poll in recent weeks. Two weeks ago, the president was ahead with 8,439 Trump cookies sold, compared with 7,052 Biden cookies sold.

As of October 30, 2020, the number of Trump cookie sales was 18,025, compared to Biden's 13,066. Some shoppers have remained impartial with 8,408 packs representing the "Cookie Party" being sold.

Time is running out to cast your crumby vote. No crumb will go uncounted!

Even though the bakery has predicted presidential election results for 30 years, its history goes further back. Started by Joe Busken Sr. in the 1920s, Busken Bakery has been a name in Cincinnati and beyond thanks to the establishment's fresh donuts and pastries.

As the company grew, Busken Sr. bought a failed grocery store and converted it into the bakery people know and love. It is now run by third-generation Buskens—two of Busken Sr.'s grandchildren— and ships cookies and other sweet treats across the country.

Meanwhile, other indicators have suggested that Biden could win the race for the White House.

The stock market's "Presidential Predictor"—which is based on how the S&P 500 index performs in the final three months before an election—has correctly predicted 20 out of the last 23 presidential winners. That's an 87 percent accuracy rate.

It has also gotten the next occupant of the White House right in every presidential election year since Ronald Reagan won a second term in 1984.

It predicts, by just six-tenths of a percentage point, that Joe Biden will become the next U.S. president.
