'Wirch Hunt' Trending After Another Donald Trump Typo

Another day another typo for President Donald Trump, who sent the phrase "wirch hunt" trending after tweeting about the impeachment inquiry.

"A Total Scam by the Do Nothing Democrats. For the good of the Country, this Wirch Hunt should end now!" the president wrote, prompting other social media users to seize upon the spelling mistake.

"Imporch him," one user wrote, while another listed the numerous typos that have sparked Twitter trends, including the unforgettable "covfefe," which was so widely discussed after Trump used it in a tweet that the president later tweeted asking whether anyone could work out the true meaning of the word.

To this day, we simply cannot covfefe what it covfefe.

Wirch hunt aside, the president has branded the impeachment inquiry, announced by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in September, a "witch hunt" and the White House has refused to cooperate with the inquiry.

In a letter sent Tuesday, White House counsel Pat Cipollone described the inquiry as an attempt by Democrats to overturn Trump's victory in the 2016 election, as well as part of a plan to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential elections.

"Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the Executive Branch cannot be expected to participate in it," the letter, addressed to Pelosi, said.

The reaction of the White House had been roundly panned by politicians and pundits alike, with George Conway, the husband of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, commenting: "It's hard to count the number of ways that this letter is, constitutionally and legally, garbage."

The widespread discussion of the White House letter combined with Trump's latest spelling gaffe have prompted lengthy commentary on social media, with the president himself adding to the discussion with a series of tweets on the whistleblower (as well as the wirch hunt comment, which remained unedited at the time of publishing).

"The so-called Whistleblower, before knowing I was going to release the exact Transcript, stated that my call with the Ukrainian President was "crazy, frightening, and completely lacking in substance related to national security." This is a very big Lie. Read the Transcript!," he wrote.

"No Pressure at all said Ukraine! Very congenial, a perfect call. The Whistleblower and others spoke BEFORE seeing the Transcript. Now they must apologize to me and stop this ridiculous impeachment!"
