Trump Wishes 'RINOs' and 'Losers of the World' Happy Father's Day in Bizarre Statement

Former President Donald Trump sent out a bizarre Father's Day message, taking aim at his political opponents and critics in a backhanded message marking the holiday.

Banned from Twitter and Facebook, Trump's divisive and confrontational messages have become less common in recent months. But the former president regularly releases official statements, often to criticize President Joe Biden or other political rivals.

On Sunday, he released a statement to commemorate Father's Day, sending his best wishes to "Losers."

"Happy Father's Day to all, including the Radical Left, RINOs, and other Losers of the world. Hopefully, eventually, everyone will come together!" Trump said in the message that was emailed to supporters and shared by some on Twitter.

RINO is a term conservative use to criticize Republicans. The acronym stands for "Republicans in name only."

The former president's personal business, the Trump Organization, also sent out a Father's Day greeting, describing Trump and his two oldest sons as "incredible fathers."

Today we celebrate the many incredible fathers throughout our Trump Organization family. Happy Father’s Day to you!

"Today we celebrate the many incredible fathers throughout our Trump Organization family. Happy Father's Day to you!" the company tweeted from its official Twitter account. The post included a photo of Trump, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump walking past White House columns.

Back in 2019, the former president sent out a similar Father's Day greeting taking aim at his critics.

"Happy Father's Day to all, including my worst and most vicious critics, of which there are fewer and fewer," Trump tweeted on Father's Day that year. "This is a FANTASTIC time to be an American! KEEP AMERICA GREAT!"

Some quickly criticized the former president's latest Father's Day statement.

"A Father's Day message that includes the word 'RINOS' and the phrase 'other losers of the world' makes me think Trump is not spending the day delighting in spending time with his many children and grandchildren," Molly Jong-Fast, an editor-at-large for The Daily Beast, tweeted.

Other Twitter users described the Trump statement as "disgusting" or questioned whether it was "a joke." At least one Twitter user also said he'd reported the post because it was "offensive."

The progressive MeidasTouch Super PAC also released a Father's Day video roasting the former president on Sunday. The video was called "Fred's Failure"—referencing Trump's father Fred Trump, who died in 1999.

"On this Father's Day, let's remember that #FredsFailure became America's failure. And we all paid the price. Retweet this far and wide. Text it to all your friends. Let's make sure he never gets near the White House again," the MeidasTouch tweet about the video said.

Newsweek reached out to Trump's press office for further comment, but did not immediately receive a response.
