Original story:

Police officers responded to an active shooter situation at a UPS facility in South Jersey after receiving reports of shots being fired.

The Logan Township Police Department confirmed to Newsweek that officers visited a UPS facility on Birch Creek Road in Logan Township on Monday morning. Shots had been fired, and it remained an active shooter situation as of 9:45 a.m. EST.

It's unclear if anyone was injured in the shooting; footage taken by WPVI at the scene showed officers behind a police vehicle near a loading ramp outside the facility. Other officers and a multitude of police cars were stationed on the streets surrounding the facility. From the footage, it appeared that at least 20 members of law enforcement were on the scene.

UPS told Newsweek that the company was working with law enforcement. The company did not release any information about who was involved in the shooting.

Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office Chief of Staff Tom Gilbert told NJ.com that by 10:30 a.m. EST, the situation was "contained" and described it as an "active incident." Gilbert said law enforcement was now in "fact-gathering" mode.

The Logan Township School District told WPVI that all schools were on modified lockdown. No one can leave or enter the building, although classes could proceed normally inside the school buildings.

Multiple outlets reported an alleged hostage situation involving a man and his ex-girlfriend, but law enforcement has not publicly confirmed that information.

Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore confirmed it was a barricaded situation that involved a gentleman and two women who were both employees. The women and the suspect are currently in a barricaded room, according to Fiore. He did not confirm if there was a relationship between the suspect and either of the women.

The UPS facility was still an active crime scene at the time of the press conference, and hostage negotiators made contact with the suspect through the telephone. Employees were evacuated from the facility, and Fiore said there were no injuries so far.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
