The United States won the gold medal in women's hockey in the Winter Olympics earlier this month. Shortly after, they captured the gold medal in men's hockey for the first time since 1980 in a triumphant victory over Team Canada. It's the first time in Olympic history that both the men's and women's teams won the gold medal in hockey in the same year.

Next up for the United States is the World Baseball Classic, led by MLB's biggest stars like Aaron Judge, Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes. Skenes didn't hold back when sending a message to the rest of the world.

"We're America, we've got to assert our dominance over everybody else," Skenes told Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "That's what we do."

Three years ago, Team USA lost in the WBC to Team Japan. Shohei Ohtani struck out Mike Trout to win the gold for Japan. Ohtani is back with Team Japan, but Trout is on the sidelines this year.

Still, Team USA is favored by almost every WBC analyst. They're led by multiple superstars alongside Skenes and Skubal. Skubal is only projected to start one game, while Skenes is projected to start two. Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber will complement Judge's power in the lineup. Bobby Witt Jr. should be a huge bat at the top of the lineup.

Team Dominican Republic has a loaded lineup, but its pitching staff isn't on par with the rest of the roster. Team Japan has a loaded roster from top to bottom, but Skenes' confidence and message to the rest of the world should have everybody on notice.
