Veronica Green on Being Eliminated From 'RuPaul's Drag Race UK'

Comeback Queen Veronica Green was the third contestant to be eliminated from RuPaul's Drag Race UK. Veronica Green has not had the smoothest time in the competition to say the least. The Rochdale-Queen had to drop out of Season 2 due to contracting COVID-19 when filming resumed during the pandemic in 2020 but thankfully RuPaul invited Veronica Green back to the competition to compete in Season 3.

Sadly, Week 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race UK saw the end of Veronica Green's journey on the show after she lost the lip-sync battle against Vanity Milan.

Speaking to Newsweek about exiting the show, Veronica Green said: "I'm feeling okay actually. I'm feeling pretty good."

"I had a little bit of a cry but then it just felt like this massive weight was being lifted off my shoulders, like all of the anxiety all the pressure, all of the expectation of succeeding, for the fans and whatnot it all just left my body.

"I just felt free. I feel really, really good and I'm happy with the episode. I'm happy with how my run on Season 3 happened. I think it's really, really good for me in the long run."

Veronica Green added: "Being eliminated from RuPaul's Drag Race is not a failure to me and I always thought Drag Race was the be-all and end-all. That it was the high point or pinnacle peak of career expectations for a drag performer and now that I've done it and realized that Drag Race is actually just the beginning of my career.

"I've gone from like performing in public little pubs and clubs, and then going from that to this worldwide audience, now that the world is my stage and it's all thanks to Drag Race."

Veronica Green shared with Newsweek she did feel some pressure about making her return to the RuPaul's Drag Race Runway.

She said: "I guess the biggest pressure for me was in such a short turnaround from Season 2 to Season 3 was managing the expectation of the fan base.

"The gap between seasons, for me, was not only tremendously short but also in the middle of a global pandemic, when we were fully locked down.

"I was on the verge of bankruptcy I couldn't even put food on my table. My fiancé had to support me through the last 18 months so that was a huge pressure for me. Huge. It gave me huge anxiety because if you're rejected by the fans... that affects your standing in the outside world and whether or not people want to book you for shows, whether or not you get opportunities coming your way and things like that but I managed that by staying true to myself and realizing that my drag and my art... It is not about the way that I look and all the clothes, that I wear.

"I rely on my personality and my charisma uniqueness nerve and talent, which is what the show screens, for it was never about my wardrobe and I stayed true to that."

Now that Veronica Green's Drag Race journey is over, you can download her single "Nothing to Lose" featuring Myleene Klass now.

RuPaul's Drag Race UK is available to stream via WOW Presents Plus at 2 p.m. every Thursday in the U.S. and airs every Thursday at 7pm on BBC Three via the BBC iPlayer in the U.K.
