Video of Adorable Puppies Choosing Their Own Names Is Melting Hearts Online

A video showing the novel way that a litter of puppies found their names has gone viral on TikTok—and it is one of the most adorable things we've ever seen.

In the footage posted by a woman named Shelly Sykora, known online as Shellysyk, six tiny Cavalier King Charles spaniels can be seen in a doorway.

Text overlaying the footage, which can be watched here, explains that she is "having the puppies choose their own collars, and naming them after the [collar] they pick."

We see that Sykora, whose TikTok bio states that she is "All about the k9s," has laid out six different-colored dog collars with names on them. Then, one by one, each puppy goes out and nudges a collar with its nose.

A light pink collar is chosen by a puppy that is now known as Flower.

The second pooch picks yellow, so is named Cheese. The black collar is Ninja, then green is Olive and bright pink is Melon.

The final puppy is left with a pale pink collar so is given the name Piggy. At the end of the video, Piggy the pup winks into the camera.

Sykora captioned the adorable scene: "The cav puppies got to make some big decisions today! #fyp #foryou #foryoupage #ClearGenius #XfinityFanthem #LeadWithLove #cavaliers."

The footage, which was posted on July 24, has so far been watched more than 15.2 million times. It also has 3.7 million likes.

Tens of thousands of TikTok users left comments too, sharing their thoughts on the puppies' new names.

The Rainbow Hair Wizard wrote: "It could have been Sunny, but you went with CHEESE."

Alison joked: "I'm sad the last one didn't get to make a choice."

Alejandra posted: "The last one looked so sad because she didn't get a choice."

T.m.wilson stated: "Imagine not understanding the rules, accidentally bumping into the yellow one, then being called cheese for the rest of your life."

Justine wrote: "Olive is very judgemental at such a young age."

Lady Prickles gushed: "Not to be dramatic but I would die for Melon."

Ashley commented: "When piglet winked at all of us at the end," alongside a cute-face emoji.

Although not all the TikTokers were fans of the puppies' names, Sykora went on to explain in the comments: "Y'all, these names are just temporary they are going to be changed when they go to their forever home."

Speaking to Newsweek, Sykora added: "The pups are doing great and Are enjoying their time and fame in the limelight!"
