Video: Alexa Expertly Trolls Tom Brady Over Patriots' Garoppolo Trade

Alexa apparently understands why the New England Patriots traded Jimmy Garoppolo to the 49ers better than most NFL pundits.

In a video posted by Bleacher Report on Friday morning, Amazon's personal assistant can be heard apparently offering a serious answer to the question, "Why did Jimmy Garoppolo cross the road?"

"To make way for Tom Brady's" ego, Alexa deadpans in response in what is surely the sickest burn of Super Bowl week so far.

The Patriots sent Garoppolo to San Francisco at the end of October for a second-round draft pick in 2018. The 26-year-old played at an All-Pro level through six games for the 49ers, piling up 1,560 yards for a passer rating of 96.2.

At the start of January Seth Wickersham of ESPN wrote an explosive longform piece on apparent rifts within the Patriots organization. Head coach Bill Belichick, Wickersham reported, was forced into trading Garoppolo (who he had drafted to succeed Brady) by team owner Robert Kraft in part because Brady had started to feel threatened by his backup and presumptive heir as the Patriots' starting quarterback.

Brady, Belichick and Kraft have all since refuted Wickersham's claims but now it seems the ESPN senior writer has artificial intelligence on his side.

Brady has had a strange week building up to his eighth Super Bowl appearance, bookended by comments in the media about his children. Alex Reimer of WEEI radio has been suspended indefinitely for calling Vivian, Brady's five-year-old daughter, an "annoying little pissant" live on air. CBS New York published a report on Wednesday on how weird it was that Brady's son Jack kissed him twice on the lips while he was having a massage during the 'Tom vs. Time' documentary.

And now he's getting trolled by Alexa. Woe is Tom Brady.
