Video Captures Altercation Between New York Traffic Agents and Driver

A new video captured an altercation between a driver and New York traffic enforcement agents, with one of the agents seen kicking the back of the driver's vehicle near the Lincoln Tunnel.

The video, which was posted to Twitter by NYC Scanner, appears to begin in the middle of the altercation with a man standing behind his vehicle, while two traffic agents can be seen standing near him.

As the video continued, one of the traffic agents kicked the tail light on the rear side of the vehicle, while the second traffic agent appeared to be hitting the man near the driver's side door.

The video shows the driver appearing to get hit by one of the traffic agents and then he appeared to kick the second traffic agent shortly after. As the traffic agents continued to try and apprehend the driver, he threw another punch at one of the traffic agents, appearing to hit him in the face.

The driver then got back into his vehicle and a third traffic agent is shown walking towards the back of the vehicle and hitting the vehicle's tail light.

After the driver shut his door, the traffic agents attempt to open it again, but the driver is able to pull it closed and begins to drive away from the scene. As the car drives away from the scene, one of the traffic agents appeared to kick the vehicle's tail light.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told Newsweek that the incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 6:30 p.m., when NYPD officers received reports of an assault. According to police, the incident happened near the Lincoln Tunnel, on West 40 Street and 11 Avenue.

When NYPD officers arrived on the scene, they found "three on-duty Traffic Enforcement Agents" who reported that they were assaulted by a 24-year-old male and a 17-year-old male.

The NYPD spokesperson told Newsweek that a preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle, identified as a black Hyundai, was reportedly involved in a motor vehicle collision and the agents attempted to stop the driver.

When the agents attempted to stop the vehicle, the two occupants allegedly "exited the vehicle and struck the three Traffic Enforcement Agents causing lacerations and bruising," police said.

The traffic agents suffered face and head injuries and were transported to a local hospital shortly after the incident.

After allegedly hitting the traffic agents, the two men fled the scene and drove through the Lincoln Tunnel toward New Jersey, police said.

"The description of the vehicle and suspects was broadcasted over the radio and a car stop was conducted by officers from Port Authority Police Department," the NYPD spokesperson told Newsweek. "Both individuals were taken into custody by Port Authority Police."

According to police, charges are currently pending for both individuals, whose names were not released.
