Video: New Jersey Man Caught on Tape Seemingly Faking a Fall For Insurance Money Arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of fraud after he was caught on surveillance camera throwing ice on the floor and apparently faking a fall in order to make a false insurance claim.

Alexander Goldinsky, 57, of Randolph, New Jersey, has been charged with one count of insurance fraud in the third degree and one count of theft by deception in the third degree following an incident at a company in Woodbridge.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor 's Office, Goldinsky was an independent contractor who operates under the name All Gold Industries.

Prosecutors allege that between September 1 and November 1 last year, Goldisnky fraudulently filed insurance claims for the ambulance service and treatment he received after faking a fall at a cafeteria at a business in Woodbridge Township.

Video footage released by Middlesex County Prosecutor 's Office shows Goldinsky pacing up and down the cafeteria before throwing some ice onto the floor.

The 57-year-old then slowly gets on the floor and stays there until someone found him, in an alleged attempt to make it appear that he had slipped on the ice.

Goldinsky was arrested on January 15 following an investigation by Detective Sean Sullivan of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. The investigation forms part of a statewide insurance fraud crackdown by the Attorney General through its County Prosecutor Insurance Fraud Reimbursement Program.

"Fraudulent claims cost everyone and we will aggressively prosecute those who illegally manipulate the system," Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said in a statement.

Goldinsky is set to appear New Brunswick Superior Court on February 7 to face the charges.

"As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Goldinsky are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty," the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office added in a statement. "The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Sean Sullivan of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732) 745-4060."

Goldinsky denied attempting to make a fraudulent insurance claim when approached when asked about his arrest at his home in Randolph.

"Yes, I was brought to the police department," he told CBS2. When pressed about the ice-throwing video, Goldinsky replied: "I didn't do it, it was a mistake."
