Video Shows Woman Allegedly Finding Black Widow Spider in Lululemon Clothes

A woman has shocked the internet and garnered a variety of reactions after allegedly finding a black widow spider in new Lululemon merchandise while looking through the racks.

The post, which has gone viral with over 8 million views, was shared to TikTok by @els22022, or Ellen Danz. It's also captioned, "#Fyp #Lululemon #BlackWidow."

The 26-second clip starts with the woman saying, "Can we talk about the cobwebs that are literally..." the woman puts her hand in a rack of clothing to remove cobwebs from the garments, presumably at a Lululemon pop-up shop, as music plays in the background. "What? What is going...?"

The TikToker mentions the word "spider" while continuing to flip through the rack and remove cobwebs stuck between articles of clothing.

"Oh lord," she says as she stops. "What is that?" She finds more cobwebs, moves another garment over and reveals a black widow spider. The woman screams out loud when she sees it, and upon zooming in, shows a black spider with a red underbelly hanging onto the web.

According to Live Science, black widows encompass several species of the arachnid in genus Latrodectus. They are the most venomous spider in the continent of North America. However, their bite isn't usually fatal for humans.

The females have the black body and red hourglass shape underneath on their round abdomen, according to Jo-Anne Nina Sewlal, an arachnologist at the University of the West Indies in Trinidad, in a Live Science interview.

In a video responding to questions of what happened next, the TikToker showed an employee removing the garment with the spider on it and carrying it outside. She shook the item, eventually finding the spider on the ground where the woman took a picture of it. There are even close-up pictures of the spider on the concrete outside in another post.

Over 1.5 million people have liked the original post with 24,000 comments. It has sparked a conversation about the situation as well as jokes and genuine concern for the woman.

People are shocked and up in arms over seeing the venomous spider. "My heart stopped when I saw the black widow," a TikToker admitted.

Some had questions for the creator of the video. "Girl, why are you just touching the webs? a TikToker wondered, and they weren't the only ones.

One user mentioned the need to clean merchandise before wearing it. "This is why you should clean your clothes after buying," they expressed.

While some were just horrified at the sight. "I'm actually screaming," a TikToker said. "The eggs."

Other comments included responses like, "I'm literally not gonna sleep tonight," and "That's a really venomous spider. You're lucky you didn't get bit."

Some people had jokes about the situation despite the possible danger. "I feel like seeing a black widow is like seeing a famous person, it's so rare Lol," a viewer added.
