Viral TikTok Tells the Story of Dairy Queen Employee Who Messed up a Client's Cake Order on Purpose

Chances are, in your internet scrolling, you've seen a butchered birthday cake or two. Maybe the name was wrong, or the word "birthday" was embarrassingly misspelled. These photos probably brought you joy because of how ridiculous they were, especially since it didn't happen to you.

But have you ever thought about asking for a purposely horrible birthday cake, just for fun?

TikTok user @ratatootle brought this idea to her followers on Monday, and trust us, it won't disappoint. For her birthday, @ratatottle (whose real name is Lila) approached a Dairy Queen employee and asked for an ice cream cake with her best, worst spelling. By the end of the video, Lila revealed her intentionally bungled birthday cake.

In the clip, Lila explains how she approached the Dairy Queen cake decorator and asked for the wording to be completely wrong. "All I care about, I want you to spell everything as wrong as you can," Lila says from inside a car parked at the Dairy Queen parking lot. "I want you to put 'Happy Birthday Lila' but, like, ruin it. I just want you to really have fun with it and, you know, like, have a great time."

The cake decorator asked if it was okay to exchange the name Lila for something else, in the spirit of getting it all wrong, Lila says. The birthday girl apparently agreed, and the result was a birthday cake that reads: "Hpappy Birday Bob!"

Not only did this awkward combination of letters thrill Lila on her birthday, but it brought so much shared joy to the TikTok community, too. At the time of this article's publishing, Lila's video had over 1 million likes. What makes it even better is it sounds like the Dairy Queen employee had the time of her life, too.

"She's, like, having the best time in the entire world," Lila says, referring to the woman who decorated the cake. "She was so proud of herself. It was the cutest thing in the entire world. Queen, I love you."

The goal of the video was for Lila to share the hilarious cake design, but she'd also like to see the Dairy Queen cake extraordinaire duet the video. So far, there doesn't seem to be any word from the cake maker, though if there's any platform that could bring the women together, it seems like it could be TikTok.

Even without the Dairy Queen employee's response, the cake story has had a significant impact on the TikTokers scrolling through their "For You" page. Comments on the video show people rejoicing at the wholesome nature of the purposeful mess-up, while many followers have shared that they'd do the same thing on their birthday.

If you're hoping to recreate Lila's viral moment, Dairy Queen ice cream cakes start around $25, though there are multiple size and color options. Just make sure you remember to ask the creator for a message that's uniquely crafted in all the wrong ways.
