The 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum provides loads of value at an attractive price. Josh Smith

The Vizio P Series Quantum TVs are among our favorites thanks to their excellent mix of features and quality for the price. After extensive testing, the 75-inch Vizio P Series Quantum (P75Q9-J01) is one of the best big-screen TVs you can buy right now.

At $1,899.99 for the 75-inch model, you are getting a lot of screen and features for less than the competition charges. This model incorporates Vizio's latest gaming features, including variable refresh rate and 4K at 120 Hz, which is a must-have for gaming on the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Vizio delivers deep blacks, thanks to high contrast and a large number of local dimming zones. The high peak brightness is almost overwhelming at times but easy to control. It handles reflections well, but light bulbs tend to show up reflect on screen. The design allows us to include a tall soundbar in front of the TV without blocking any of the screen.

Vizio's Smart TV features are snappier than previous models, but it is still sluggish at times. However, the included Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Chromecast support does help make up for it.

The 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum is a perfect set to buy for gaming, streaming and sports if you want a 75-inch TV under $2,000.

Buy at Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, Sam's Club and Vizio for $1,899.99.

Vizio P Series Quantum Review (P75Q9-J01)
The big screen is great for watching movies and bingeing your favorite shows. Josh Smith

The Vizio P Series Quantum 2021 manages to perform well across the board. This is what you want on a big-screen TV that will likely become the coveted place to watch in your home. Overall the image quality is great, thanks in part to the large number of local dimming zones, which help black levels in games and movies. The screen can get incredibly bright, which is very useful when sun floods our family room in the early evening. Yet the screen is bright enough to see and handles reflections very well.

While bingeing through Ted Lasso, The Morning Show and You on Netflix, we found the P75Q9-J01 was the perfect way to immerse ourselves in the stories unfolding in front of us. For streaming TV, we tested the Spectrum app on Apple TV 4K and were overall impressed with the quality on the large screen.

Sports look good on the 2021 Vizio P Series, with overall positive performance while watching college football and the NFL. If you are paying close attention, you may see a little motion blur, but it wasn't a major issue for us.

Viewing angles aren't the best, so keep that in mind if you have a room in which viewers are spread out. Our viewing area is deep but not very wide, so this setup works nicely, allowing us to watch on the couch, at the table or even from the kitchen.

If you view older content that needs to be upscaled or is 720p content from a cable box, the Vizio P Series doesn't do as good of a job at it when compared with Samsung.

Gaming on the PS5 and Xbox Series X works wonderfully on the Vizio P75Q9-J01. Josh Smith

You can connect both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X to the 2021 Vizio P Series using HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K at 120 Hz, and FreeSync for variable refresh rate. This eliminates the need to switch cords as you move between consoles. With its low input lag, demanding gamers will be happy with this. Although I lost most of the time, it was a great screen for playing NBA 2K22 on.

The 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum design includes feet that can hold the TV higher to allow space for a soundbar. Josh Smith

The 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum design is really smart, especially if you plan to put a soundbar in front of your TV. The legs include two settings, with one that is about 3.5-inches taller and that can accommodate a soundbar.

The legs also feature a rubber top to ensure the soundbar stays in place. We also like that they are closer to the center of the TV than those on the Vizio M series TVs. This design choice makes it easier to fit on a TV stand. Even with the taller leg option in use, the TV feels very stable.

The bezels are thin, and the TV looks very nice. The TV itself is a little thick, especially in the lower half, but it shouldn't stick out too much if you decide to wall-mount it.

Vizio places all the ports on the right rear side of the TV; the power cord attaches on the left side. There are four 4K HDMI 2.1 ports, with one supporting HDMI eARC and two for 4K at 120Hz for gaming. The TV includes analog audio out, digital audio out and a coaxial cable input. For connectivity, users also get USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Bluetooth.

The new remote includes built-in voice controls. Josh Smith

Vizio's new remote includes a voice button that allows you to perform some control options by pushing and talking. This lets us quickly switch inputs, open apps and even play specific titles in the apps on our TV. You can also perform an array of searches and control some TV settings. It's a handy upgrade that you'll use a lot if you live in Vizio's SmartCast platform.

Smart TV Features

Vizio SmartCast is an adequate smart TV platform. Josh Smith

Vizio's SmartCast software is a good built-in smart TV platform with a lot of versatility. We've seen a number of improvements over the years, and this is the best version yet. There are still some times when it isn't quick enough, but for a built-in system it is decent.

It helps that we've seen a lot of app support this year. Users can install apps from Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video and HBO Max, as well as others. The set also supports Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay 2, which means you can mirror your phone, tablet or laptop to the screen without any wires. If you want to avoid using a separate streaming box, you can simply mirror your phone to the TV.

You can also add AirPlay or Chromecast to the TV. Josh Smith

For someone who lives in the Apple platform, this is a great setup. The Apple TV app in SmartCast even allows us to watch our purchased movies and stream Apple TV Plus shows. We still use an Apple TV 4K as it enables us to install more apps, including the Spectrum TV app to stream our TV shows.

In addition to its remote control voice features, the TV also works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple's Siri. The P Series Quantum also supports Apple HomeKit, so that you can turn the TV on with a HomeKit scene.

Is the 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum Worth Buying?

The 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum (P75Q9-J01) is an exceptional value, as is the 65-inch version of this TV. With a price under $2,000, the TV is an even bigger steal when you consider how it stacks up to the Samsung QN90A, which is significantly more expensive. Even with the few areas that need improvement, the P75Q9-J01 is our top pick for a 75-inch 4K TV at this price point.

With high marks for streaming, gaming and movies, the 2021 Vizio P Series Quantum is a great choice at an amazing price.
