Who Are 'The Voice' Judges? Season 17 Premiere Kicks Off Without Adam Levine

The Voice returns to NBC with yet another season full of magical musical moments.

The first of the Season 17 two-night premiere kicks off on Monday featuring a fresh new roster of singers and musicians hoping to win the champion title and record deal along with a $100,000 grand prize. Before any that happens, though, contestants will have to score a spot on one of the four judges' teams during the grueling blind auditions.

While one notable judge on The Voice will be missing in action this time around, the Season 17 judges are all familiar faces. Black Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, whose pick Maelyn Jarmon won the Season 16 competition, are all back to rear a new group of talented artists.

Meanwhile, Adam Levine, who served as a judge since the show's 2011 debut along with Shelton, will no longer be a part of the cast. Stefani, who appeared on the show for Seasons 7,9 and 12, returns to The Voice in Levine's place.

Show host Caron Daly announced Levine would not return back in May, noting the longtime judge would "always be a cherished member of The Voice family." Shortly after, Levine took to Instagram to explain his reasons for leaving, writing that it was simply time for something new.

"For me, it was time to move on. Your support has meant EVERYTHING," he wrote in a message to fans at the time.

During his tenure on The Voice, the eccentric Levine's coaching resulting in three individuals winning the singing competition including Season 1 contestant Javier Color, Season 5's Tessanne Chin and Jordan Smith in Season 9.

While Levine's presence and his hilarious banter with Shelton will be missed by fans, executive producer Audrey Morrissey assured fans Season 17 would still be full of the fun, exciting and entertaining moments The Voice is known for. "It's a great season," she said in an interview with Parade, released Monday.

"The talent's wonderful. There are a lot of four-chair turns. People were having a blast and they were loving the talent. There's definitely a lightness, a lot of fun. It's like wall-to-wall laughs. The romance between Gwen and Blake is alive, but I think maybe even just that romance put love in the air. It was just like a very loving, fun place," Morrissey explained. "To me, it's been one of the most fun season thus far to work on. Maybe it was a new beginning."

As for the Season 17 Battle Advisors, teams will get a helping hand and special coaching from artists Normani, Usher, Darius Rucker and will.i.am. Meanwhile, award-winning singer Taylor Swift will serve as a mentor, giving advice to contestants on all four teams.

The Voice Season 17 premieres on NBC on Monday at 8 p.m. The second night of blind auditions will air the following day at the same time.
