Authorities recovered a firearm they believe was involved in the incident. Police said there was no known indication of an ongoing threat to the community.
Officers with Wisconsin’s Division of Criminal Investigation also arrived at the scene Saturday afternoon, according to the Washington County Insider. Investigators were seen searching a garage at the property as the investigation continued.
Multiple police units were positioned along Wisconsin Avenue as yellow police tape cordoned off the area, the Washington County Insider reported. Washington Street remained open to traffic, although pedestrians were asked to avoid the area while investigators worked at the scene.
“Everybody in the home was connected to one another,” Lt. Brian McAndrews told WISN. “We believe the suspect that is involved was inside the home with the individuals found deceased.”
McAndrews said police did not believe anyone involved remained at large. “At this point we do not believe that there is suspect at large that the community needs to be concerned about by any means,” he said.
The surviving girl was in stable condition, according to WISN.
Authorities had not publicly identified those who died or specified their relationships to one another as of Saturday afternoon. Police also had not publicly detailed the circumstances that led to the deaths.
Police have not said whether domestic violence played a role in the incident. In their public statement, however, authorities included contact information for Friends Inc., a local domestic violence support organization, saying help was available to anyone experiencing domestic violence.
Newsweek contacted the West Bend Police Department, the city’s communications director and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for additional information and comment.
Police said the investigation remains active as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths. No further details were immediately released.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the West Bend Police Department at 262-335-5000.
