What Happens in 'Game of Thrones' Episode 6? The Battle Isn't Over Yet

Daenerys is officially in charge on Game of Thrones, but will the final episode end with her as Queen? HBO

The final episode of Game of Thrones won't be free from war, according to the Episode 6 teaser. A quick trailer from the show's final episode aired after Sunday night's battle at King's Landing. Although alliances fell and main characters died, there is still a reason to fight.

The preview shows the army of the Unsullied, as well as the Dothraki army, gearing up for another fight. Tyrion Lannister and others walk through the streets of King's Landing, where ashes have fallen on charred bodies, throughout every alley and building. Daenerys Targaryen seemingly walks to claim her title as queen, though it seems she could be facing a disapproving crowd.

In Episode 5, the Lannister tyranny fell when Daenerys burned the city of King's Landing to a crisp. Early in the battle, the army of King's Landing surrendered. In a moving moment, the leaders of the army threw their swords on the ground, in front of Jon Snow and his men. Despite their peace offering, which included the symbolic ringing of the bells to symbolize the acceptance of the Lannister's end.

Still, Daenerys made an executive decision to burn not only the city of King's Landing to the ground but to target innocent lives throughout the city streets. Throughout the battle, it appears Jon decides to abandon Daenerys' lead, by pulling his own troops back from the battle, which had turned into a massacre.

Fans expect more lead character deaths in the final episode of the series. It appears a personal battle between Daenerys and Jon may ensue, considering Jon has supporters for being the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Though he promised to bend the knee to Daenerys, the rampant killing at King's Landing could have persuaded him to make claim to the throne.

As for other characters, seeing what happens to Arya Stark will be of interest to viewers, who watched the former hero get beaten and bruised throughout the end of Episode 5. Though Arya seemingly made it out alive, her injuries could be serious.

Episode 5 saw the death of many leading characters, including Jamie Lannister, Cersei Lannister, Varys, the Hound and Euron Greyjoy. The future looks bleak for Tyrion Lannister, who wronged Daenerys by releasing his brother, Jamie, from her capture. Daenerys warned Tyrion that he'd die if he wronged her again.
