What is Lexus Safety System+ 3.0? 9 New Technologies to Help Keep You Safe

The redesigned 2022 Lexus NX will come standard with the latest suite of the automaker's safety technology as standard. Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 combines many of the technologies found in Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 and 2.5 with fresh tech.
Previous iterations of the radar and camera technology have provided safety solutions that have helped the vehicles earn Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ designation.
Lexus Safety System+ Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection is now available on the Lexus GX, LX, RC, RC F, LC, LC Hybrid, and LC Convertible. The more advanced Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 Pre-Collision System with pedestrian detection is standard on the Lexus ES, ES Hybrid, LS, LS Hybrid, RX, RX Hybrid, UX, and UX Hybrid. Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 with pedestrian detection takes the tech a step further in the Lexus IS.

Risk Avoidance Emergency Steer Assist
This technology supports the car's collision avoidance system by working while the car is in its lane. It provides gentle braking and steering operation.
Right/Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection/Braking
If a driver is poised to turn in front of an oncoming vehicle, this system is designed to provide a warning and automatic braking.
Right/Left Turn Oncoming Vehicle Detection/Braking
Lexus engineers have adapted the car's vehicle detection and braking system to pedestrians and cyclists. It works the same way providing a warning and automatic braking where necessary.
Oncoming Vehicle Detection
New technology has been added to the car's pre-collision system. It is designed to alert the driver to help avoid a frontal collision. The technology can activate the automatic emergency braking system if need be.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Curve Speed Management
In Lexus vehicles, the car's adaptive cruise control works like it does in new Hyundai and Lexus models, maintaining the set cruise control seep but adapting to the flow of traffic and curves ahead using intelligence from the car's navigation capabilities.
Road Sign Assist
Select road signs can be detected by the system and read with their speed limit, school zone, and other information displayed on the instrument panel.
Pre-Collision System
In low-light stations, the car's pre-collision system can detect a preceding vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist.
Lane Assistance
If the vehicle inadvertently moves out of its lane, Lane Assistance produces an audible alert to let the driver know of their steering error.
Intelligent High Beam
Consider this the Lexus name for automatic high beam assist technology. The technology works to detect if the road ahead is clear of oncoming and preceding traffic then temporarily switches the car's front lighting from low beams to a combination of low- and high beams. It automatically turns off when another vehicle's headlights or taillights are detected.
