Anthony Tong Identified As Middleton Shooting Suspect

The suspect in Wednesday's shooting at an office building in Middleton, Wisconsin, was identified as Anthony Tong, 43, according to a release from the medical examiner's office.

The shooting took place Wednesday morning at WTS Paradigm, a software company in Middleton. At least three people were seriously injured. Tong, reportedly an employee of the company, was shot by police and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Tong's death was being investigated by police.

"A forensic autopsy was completed [Thursday] at the Dane County medical examiner's office," the office said. "Preliminary results of that autopsy confirm that Mr. Tong died from firearm-related trauma. Additional testing is underway at this time."

Authorities have not yet determined a motive in the shooting. After the incident, police believed that Tong acted alone and that there was no further threat.

First reports of the shooting came at around 10:30 local time from Deming Way. Nearby schools were immediately placed on lockdown, and those in the area were asked to stay inside, lock doors and shelter in place.

One person who was previously listed in critical condition was upgraded to serious condition on Thursday, news station WITI reported. Two others remained in serious condition.
