Who Is Britney Spears Engaged To? Singer Makes Big Announcement After Conservatorship News

Things seem to be looking up for Britney Spears after a difficult few years. Last week, her father Jamie Spears filed to end the conservatorship which has been over her for more than a decade.

Then, in recent days, she released a video of herself wearing a diamond ring, sharing her engagement to boyfriend Sam Asghari, while he posted a similar image.

His manager confirmed to People: "The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them."

New York jeweller Roman Malayev was behind the ring design, which has the word lioness engraved inside the band.

Lioness is Asghari's nickname for Britney Spears.

Asghari has been a fixture on her Instagram for some time, and she has commented on how he has been by her side during some difficult moments in her life over the past few years.

In one post, she wrote: "Not only has this cute asshole been with me through the hardest years of my life but he happens to be an extremely good cook."

Now, they are looking to get married, which her conservatorship previously prevented her from doing.

Who Is Sam Asghari?

Sam Asghari is a 27-year-old actor and personal trainer.

He is Iranian, having been born in Tehran, Iran before moving to Los Angeles, California, when he was 12 years old.

He told Forbes he left his mother and three sisters to come to the U.S.A., as they were still going FBI checks, though his father has been in the country for five years.

He said: "It was definitely a culture shock, coming out here with a completely different language to speak. I didn't speak a word of English and it was a weird age where I was finally so comfortable with my friends and [I had to] leave them behind to start a new life.

"So when I got out here, it was very different but I always had a positive mindset. I always knew that I was coming to a country where opportunity was the equivalent to gold. I was brought up by my dad knowing and understanding that we were coming here for a better life."

His first roles came in music videos, where he appeared in the Fifth Harmony "Work From Home" video as well as Britney Spears' "Slumber Party" video in 2016, which is where they met.

Asghari is a personal trainer, posting about wellness and health on his fitness Instagram page.

On his personal one, he shares modelling images, information about upcoming roles and personal pictures of his life with Britney Spears.

His acting breakthrough came in 2019 when he appeared in The Doctors and the movie Can You Keep A Secret?

He had small roles in NCIS, The Family Business and Hacks, and this year he has appeared in three episodes of Black Monday.

When Will Britney Spears' Conservatorship End?

It is not clear when or if Britney Spears' conservatorship will end.

Britney Spears gave a shocking testimony in the summer where she shared some of the details of her conservatorship, and how it has prevented her from having children and getting married.

She has twice attempted to have her father, Jamie Spears, removed from the conservatorship by passing the responsibility to others.

In a recent filing, Jamie Spears said he felt it was time for the court to remove the conservatorship, if it was his daughter's wish.

He said in a filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court: "Ms Spears has told this Court that she wants control of her life back without the safety rails of a conservatorship...

"As Mr Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter," it continues. If Ms Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr Spears believes that she should get that chance."

However, the court will decide how to proceed, so there is no guarantee this is the end of the arrangement.
