A cat has gone viral for his high-maintenance way of drinking water.

Viccy (@viccygirl) from Norway shared footage of her parent's sophisticated feline drinking water from a champagne coupe.

"My parents' cat is so spoiled that he doesn't drink water unless it's fresh water from a glass with a stem," she shared in the text overlaying the TikTok video which garnered 74,500 likes and over 600,000 views.

The footage shows the black and white cat lying on a wooden table tastefully sinking his tongue into a fresh glass of water, as if he were at a dinner party.

Cats often prefer drinking from human glasses due to a variety of reasons. Firstly, they may not like the water in their bowls, according to the cat publication, Catster.

Felines are sensitive to the taste and temperature of water, and stagnant water in a bowl might not be appealing to them.

They instinctively seek out fresh, running water, and the water in a human's glass often meets this criteria better.

Additionally, the location of the glass could be more appealing; it might be placed in a quieter, more secure area compared to their feeding zone.

Cats also learn from observation and may mimic their owners' behaviors, which can include drinking from a glass.

Finally, kitties are curious creatures and a glass might simply offer a novel way to access drinking water.

"Upper class cat," Viccy wrote as the post's caption which left commenters laughing.

"He's not a cat. He's Monsieur," said one user. "A distinguished gentleman," said another user.

"The definition of an aristocat," said Andrea.

"My cat does this! She'll only drink from crystal glass and won't eat from our hands. No. Silver spoon only. Such a diva but I love her," said Elisha Ferguson.

"My two cats are same only a tall glass only way they will drink, don't take no notice in a cat bowl," said Janie.

"Exactly like my bengal, he drinks from my mums crystal ice cream cups, has to be fresh water with an ice cube," said Em.

"My cats drink out of fine china tea cups. And they still refuse if they don't have their match tea plate underneath," said Elder.
