Why Steven Spielberg's Daughter Is Pursuing Sex Work, Not Relying on Her Father's Name

Mikaela Spielberg, the daughter of filmmaker Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, announced Wednesday that she's begun a career in sex work. While Steven Spielberg has yet to respond publicly to his daughter's new career, her decision to enter the adult entertainment industry has become a trending headline globally.

Mikaela revealed she's working to obtain her sex worker license in Tennessee and has a goal of working in a strip club. In addition, she's already begun an online career.

The 23-year-old announced her decision to start a career in sex work on Instagram in February. "I just launched my self-produced adult entertainment career. Safe, sane, consensual is the goal y'all," she said. "My body, my life, my income, my choice. I owe not a single person my autonomy or virtue just because of a name."

Mikaela was adopted by Spielberg and Capshaw in 1996, according to the Economic Times. In an interview with The U.S. Sun, she claimed she'd suffered years of mental health issues, including anorexia, borderline personality disorder and alcoholism before she found comfort in the sex industry.

Mikaela revealed the decision wasn't rash. She called herself a "sexually natured person," and she stated she doesn't want to rely on her family for financial support.

Currently, her Instagram account, @vandal_princess, is private but boasts over 57,000 followers. It's billed as an 18-and-older account, as the bio discloses the content behind the privacy screen is "not safe for work."

She also includes other details about herself in the bio. Spielberg revealed she's a polytheist, meaning she worships multiple gods and is "proheaux," which is a term defined as "black or brown womanists—women and femme, cis or trans—who are pro-sex and/or are sex workers and support sex worker rights. Committed to collective and personal empowerment, not just sexually, but through economic security sans judgment of the means," according to Medium.

Spielberg also links to a website for adult content, where she has a communication feed with followers. It appears she's also able to send personalized photos and audio to subscribers who offer tips.

Mikaela is in a committed relationship with 50-year-old professional darts player Chuck Pankow. The pair are engaged. She noted that the relationship will contribute to her future career decisions.

She explained that her career choice comes from confidence in her own sexuality, according to the Sun. "I got really tired of not being able to capitalize on my body and frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body," she explained.
"And I also just got tired of working day to day in a way that wasn't satisfying my soul."
